Planet - Chiron (planetoid)

Qualities:

 A stone linked with clarity and healing, Rock Crystal is associated with the planetoid Chiron.  This association is a modern one, owing to Chiron’s symbolic link wellbeing and all complementary therapies. Rock crystal works as a natural amplifier, and is especially effective when used for energy healing and purification purposes.

Rock Crystal has long been associated with prophecy and healing. Like Chiron -its planetary partner- it can stimulate awareness of subtle energetic fields and how they interact with the body or each other. Its mineral content embodies the essence of purity, and works to create clarity in complex situations.

Spiritually, Rock Crystal aids in all forms of energetic and intuitive healing. It brings clarity to the mind and will amplify the effects of meditation and visualization. Pure rock crystal is an excellent aid for focus in meditation as it aligns with the electrical currents generated through the nervous and glandular systems to increase overall frequency. 

Myth and Legend:

As a member of the common quartz family, supplies of rock crystal are plentiful.

The Greeks believed that it was deeply frozen ice, trapped in solid form for eternity. It has always been considered a magical and healing stone across many cultures, and is used extensively for prophecy and space clearing.

Crystal singing bowls have been used to generate a frequency that is said to purify an atmosphere. Spheres of rock crystal have been fashioned into literal crystal balls, as the frequency of the stone coupled with its light and clarity can assist the expression of clairvoyant abilities

Gemologer’s Notes:

Rock Crystal is a variety of quartz, but lacks the colour carrying minerals of other varieties. For this reason, it is pure, containing no foreign substances.

Supply of smoky quartz is abundant, as it is part of the quartz family. Pleochroism can be apparent and lesser quality specimens will show distinct colour-banding. It is rarely produced synthetically on the market owing to its relatively low cost. Colour can be altered through artificial radiation however, which will affect its therapeutic qualities.
