What is Your Ayurvedic Type?

An Individual Approach

Your Ayurvedic type is understood to be based on a complex blend of qualities. To understand what this means you need to know about the doshas.

The jewel of Ayurvedic medicine is the recognition that every person is an individual, and every individual has their own path to optimal health.

Ayurveda uses the word prakruti to describe a person’s individual temperament or constitution.

Your constitution is understood to be based on a complex blend of physical, emotional and mental qualities – in the end unique to you.

To understand what this means for you, you need to understand your constitution or body type.

In Ayurvedic terms, prakruti is based on a blend of doshas.

There are three doshas (dosha can be loosely translated as a set of biochemical qualities) that come together to make up your individual constitution.

The Ayurvedic Doshas are Vata, Pitta and Kapha

Almost all of us will be a blend of doshas, with one dosha dominant, and a secondary dosha supporting that. Very few people will be dominated by just one dosha, and even fewer will be a balance of all three.

This combination of doshas is used to describe your prakruti. As an example you may be Pitta dominant with Vata secondary, and so your prakruti would be Pitta/Vata

Knowing your constitution will be of benefit all your life as you can adapt your diet and lifestyle choices to align with your prakruti – leading to good health.

The best way to get a proper analysis is by seeing a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner. However, you can take an online quiz to get a good idea.

Ancient Wisdom For Modern Lives

Through observing subtle forces in the natural world, Ayurvedic physicians developed a profound system of medicine based on thousands of years of practical application.

Ayurvedic scholars were the first to conduct detailed studies of anatomy, perform complex surgeries and understand the mechanics of the human body, including the development of the foetus in the womb.

Ayurvedic have been translated into Greek and Arabic, and so became part of the foundation for modern Western medicine.

From its earliest known roots over 5000 years ago, Ayurveda has spread throughout the world.

Today, Ayurveda is being rediscovered. Many of its fundamental teachings are now being proven through standardized trials and clinical research, offering safe yet powerful ways to bring the body back to its own natural state of wellness.

What is a Moon Sign

What does the Moon Sign mean?

The Moon Sign in astrology describes the instinctive and emotional part of your nature. It reveals your innate reactions, and what you need to feel comfortable or secure. Your Moon Sign illuminates your emotional, genetic and intuitive makeup. This will help you understand your needs and how to have them met.

It’s really important to know that whilst your Sun Sign describes qualities you are learning to develop and become, your Moon Sign shows what you already are.

We can think of The Moon therefore as the support actor, for she is the one who fills out the script and makes it realistic and believable. Equally as important in terms of your overall personality, together the Sun and Moon combine to drive much of your unique personality.

The Moon describes your usual responses, the bottom-line position to which you fall back as you make your way through the world. It is most common for us to behave more like our Moon sign when we are young, and then as we grow the strengths of our Sun sign start to emerge

The Mechanics of The Chart

Your birth chart (or natal chart) is a map of the heaven’s, relative to the time and place that you were born.  This map shows areas of strength and opportunity, as well as weakness and challenge. Your birth chart is a powerful tool which can also show how things are likely to unfold through time, as well as what is happening for you at the moment.

How Does It work?

Let’s have a look at a chart to get a sense of what all the lines and symbols mean.

The wheel running around the outside represents the circle of The Zodiac, which allows us to position exactly in the sky where each planet was when you were born. The Zodiac is an imaginary band that is projected out into space from Earth. It is a wonderful tool, because it allows us to know where all the bodies in our solar system are, relative to us.

Astrologers use the chart to create a snapshot of the moment you draw your first breath, mapping the position of the planets back down to earth to make it exactly relative to the time and place of your birth. This then becomes your unique map, or blueprint, and can guide you throughout your life. READ MORE >>
